The Fishmonger Illovo is the first of all of the Fishmonger restaurants and is one of Johannesburg’s top seafood eateries. We are well situated in the Thrupps Centre in Illovo, Sandton.

Our menu offers a wide variety of shellfish, fresh line fish and sushi. We also cater for the non fish eater with organic beef dishes, as well as Portuguese flame-grilled chicken and other Portuguese dishes.

Our lunches are very business orientated from Monday to Friday, but weekends are more family orientated.

Dinner service has a relaxed vibe that works well for any occasion, from family time to couples out for the night. Everyone is welcome and well taken care of.

Easily the best seafood restaurant in Johannesburg if not South Africa! The service is outstanding and the management and owner, Pedro has an exceptional eye and attention to detail. A sensational seafood experience, it is always such a treat visiting this restaurant, you get treated so well and the food always tastes amazing…
Their oysters are delicious and so is there sushi. My favourite dish is the Seared Fresh Scottish Salmon, it’s always cooked to perfection and is oh so delicious. Their specials are also good so be sure to ask for them, I once had seared tuna skewers, probably one of the best things I have ever tasted.

What a fantastic place!
The service here is great! The food is just absolutely delicious. All the sea food is incredibly fresh, and just melts in your mouth. The portions are very big too! No one had any complaints around the table.

I ventured to The Fishmonger on a busy friday night and yes, the place was packed. The reservations list went over two pages so if you plan on going, get those bookings in early!
The Fishmonger probably had the best service I experienced in a long time and the waiters were very efficient at the small things. If I had to rate the service alone it would be 5 stars!

This place is always busy and I think one of the best places for seafood in Jozi. Even though we had to wait a while, we were quite happy waiting at the sushi bar and watching the chefs creating colourful and mouth watering sushi.
